Problems?

Monday, December 28th, 2009

We have a slight technical problem here as my power charger for the laptop seems to have died.  If I cannot replace it then that will be the end of the blogging pictures.  Watch this space. We hear the inches of snow are rising. I think it’s 34 C here today.  Clear blue skies, rolling surf & light breeze.  Someone has to be here to tell you all about it!!!!!

We are all alive & well and soaking up the sun (34C) yesterday & culture.  We hope you are not too frozen up and are all able to have a great Christmas with the people you love.  Nigel, Fi, Ellie, Jazz & Lily

Everything sparkles in India! by our fashion correspondent.

I did not think it would be so different from what I imagined because things at home are quite dull by comparison.  The bags and flip-flops are so pretty. The flip-flops are the same sort of thing as at home but they are so colourful and have been decorated with sparkles. So have the bangles and bags. The saris that the women ware have beautiful patterns and they look fantastic in them.  Lots of bright reds, pinks, sunshine yellows, oranges & sky blues. Even the little girls wear great costumes & jewellery too.  Most have their ears pierced with big gold earrings and wear lots & lots of bangles on their wrists.  I would love to get a sari & have my ears pierced & wear big gold earrings too.

Animals in India are different! by our wildlife correspondent.

The Cows outside our house can wander freely but their calves are tethered with a long rope so they don’t run away or eat the wrong things.  We saw some goats walking by the main road without someone looking after them. They were running all over the place. There are lots of dogs too that don’t seem to have any owners.

There are a lot of bugs here & we all have muzzier bites. I saw a giant millipede yesterday  in the grass by our house it was at least six inches long and every day we have to sweep out loads of ants from our rooms. I love the butterflies because they are so colourful & pretty & you couldn’t compare them to the ones at home.

Other flying things I like are the birds especially as I am a member of the RSPB. There are lots of white birds with long beaks & legs in front of the house, which we think, are either ibis or egrets. There are others but we don’t know what they are called.

We have watched the fishermen on the lake by the house. One goes out in a boat and sets long lines of nets while the other wades out up to his chest in the water and then smacks his basket down into the water to catch the fish.  It’s funny watching his head bobbing up & down.
